Operations should not run on workarounds.

Infrastructure is required when the operation has to hold beyond individual memory and coordination.

  1. Work crosses people or systems

    Ownership, status, and the next required action must remain visible as work moves.

  2. Consequences require a durable record

    What initiated the work, what was performed or resolved, and the exceptions, approvals, documents, or financial consequences that followed must remain reconstructable.

  3. The business must show its basis

    The operation must retain what happened, why it happened, who reviewed it, and which source evidence and document versions supported the decision.

  4. Manual coordination will not hold

    Volume, operational change, or growing complexity makes the current path unreliable.

Can the company understand completed work without reconstructing it by hand?

This standard applies whether the business is defining a new operating foundation, addressing a known constraint, or examining an operating environment to identify where a buildable intervention is useful.
